1 - ఇప్పుడు యోగశాస్త్రము చెప్ప బడుచున్నది. ‘ యుజ్ ’ అనే సంస్కృతధాతువు నుండి ‘ యుజిర్ యోగ ’ మనే నిర్వచనం వచ్చింది. ‘ కలయిక ’ యని దీని అర్థం. వ్యాసమహర్షి తన యోగసూత్రభాష్యంలో ‘ యుజ్ సమాధౌ ’ అంటూ,  యోగమంటే సమాధిలో లీనం కావడమని అన్నారు . కనుక, కలయికయని మూలార్థమైనప్పటికీ, ఏకాగ్రతయని, సమాధియని కూడా ఈ పదమునకు అర్థములున్నాయి. దేనితో దేని కలయిక?  అంటే,  జీవాత్మ, పరమాత్మల కలయికయని అర్థం .  జీవాత్మయంటే , పరిమితమైనట్టి యోగియొక్క ఆత్మ.  పరమాత్మయంటే , అన్ని ఆత్మలకు మూలమైన, ఆధారమైన, అనంతమైన విశ్వాత్మ . పరిమితమైన మానవాత్మ , అపరిమితమైన దైవాత్మతో కలవడమే యోగం. దీనికి మార్గం ఏకాగ్రతాపూర్వకమైన కేవలసమాధిని అనుభవం ద్వారా అందుకోవడం. కనుక యోగమంటే పరమాత్మతో ఏకాగ్రతాపూర్వకమైన సంయోగమని అర్థం వస్తుంది.  ఈ సమాధిని అందుకునే విధానమును యోగశాస్త్రం ఉపదేశిస్తుంది. 2 - యోగమంటే చిత్తవృత్తి నిరోధం. చిత్తము ,  వృత్తులు ,  నిరోధము  అనే పదములను అర్థం చేసుకోవాలి. చిత్తమంటే  - చింతించునది, ఆలోచించునది. మనస్సు అనే పదమును కూడా ఇదే అర్థంతో వాడుతూ ఉంటారు. మనస్సు అంటే మననం చేసేదని, చిత్తమంటే చింతించేదని అర్థములు. మననం కంటే, చింతన లోత

All health may be attributed to three causes namely, hereditary environment and Yama, Niyama i.e., positive and negative habits. Through  Yama and Niyama , man can overcome the handicaps of the hereditary environment. To avoid disease, observe the following: Breathe fresh air Take a wholesome and nutritious diet, and meals at regular intervals. Take sufficient rest, and daily baths, develop the body and mind on healthy lines. Observe continence, think of God and divinity. Avoid bad habits, stimulants, and evil company, over-eating, indulgence in loose talks, and overwork. Do not remain idle. Do not stay awake late at night, or sleep during the daytime. Avoid Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, and Mada Mascharya. You must also take a rest. You must take light, Sattwic food, fresh air, and avoid worrying yourself.
